Spelling Bee

The MSC Spelling Bees are part of the Scripps National Spelling Bee program. Each service cooperative hosts a regional spelling bee in February–March with the nine champions advancing to the national spelling bee in Washington, D.C. the last week of May.
Currently more than 300 schools and districts participate in the MSC spelling bees. Schools can host their bees in a variety of ways including written, oral and/or online.
When schools enroll at spellingbee.com and pay the enrollment fee, they receive exclusive online access to:
- The teachers-only section of spellingbee.com
- Official study lists for students, organized by grade level and level of difficulty
- Official pronouncer guides for use in conducting classroom and school spelling bees
- The Great Words, Great Works reading list with all source books, organized by reading level
- Words of the Champions: the 4,000-word study guide for school champions
- Supplemental word meaning materials for classroom and school levels
- Customizable certificates for participants and school champions
